Two Exhibition photos/ Text
The theme of my body of work mainly focuses on identity and what's been happening to our community, including a cultural lens. Being able to relate my theme to my life and being stuck in a pandemic has brought my work into an exploring intention; as well as putting myself in a different lens. Concepts I've strived to explore within my work are topics that are challenging and diplomatic, such as being trapped and health. Utilizing materials such as oil paints and a camera to create a photo and painting pieces has been a great coping skill for my health, all of
my artworks are associated with good and bad experiences. Preceding experiences have inspired me as a person but also in my art such as creating more feeling and culture. Applying these experiences to the theme of identity and culture to the real world has attached my body of work into a voice as an artist.
Some particular issues that happened through the process of creating my artwork were not knowing how to use certain supplies, creating something I’ve never done before, or only using certain supplies to make my project more challenging. The main ideas that have been explored through the issues I was having was how can I make my project look better than it looks on paper; with some projects like my hybrid hero project I was struggling with the dimensions, and materials so that's when I decided to do experimentation which did not turn out that well but than when I did the main one it turned out a lot better. Techniques I have used for all projects were
trying out different materials, using different inspirations, and trying to do something different but also where I have experience.
My personal favorite medium, painting, is a medium I use quite often not only in the professional art life but also in my personal life. As painting being the medium I use often and besides the fact that it's my favorite medium, I'm able to get a general idea across to a viewer or an audience better than doing any artwork I dislike. However, since my favorite medium to create is paintings I’ve been able to experiment with different elements like texture, blending, colors and value. Painting was the first thing that had gotten me into art. In my opinion, painting is in most mediums like the supplies or just the general idea, and that's why I enjoy doing paintings
because I could experiment with a lot more than an illustration board could offer.
The space that was provided for my exhibition included two white walls. My coordination within that space began as a vision of emotion and identity; I prefer to work with organization. I have my artwork spaced and placed in certain spots; the idea to get across to the viewers that are seeing my exhibition was to create a global context within my artworks being presented.
The way I plan to organize my exhibition is by emotion to identity. I also plan on displaying my works like reality, unexpected, trapped, and pandemic. Peace and conflict of the piece brings out the main purpose of the central themes within all of my works. In my exhibition, I have smaller pieces but they capture the lines and movement which makes the piece stand out. This brings me to my last but latest piece “It Can Be” which sums up the type of person of who I am which will make my exhibition feel more complete.
As I create art and illustration as an impressionistic, this has always been exposed throughout my artwork event throughout the pieces I have chosen for my exhibition. The mediums I choose to work with are limited and hardly varied, I don't consider my artwork to be constraint in my work. The themes from my work are very noticeable and have a similar connection to the environment, with art being in my life as long as I can remember and using art to express my feelings multiple themes and ideas are being expressed by the way I feel or see things.

UWM Hybrid Heroes
My inspiration for this project is Wonder woman by William Moulton Marston and H. G. Peter, and Catwoman by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. While I was trying to find a way to have a great connection with my Hybrid Heroes project. I've never thought my two favorite superheros can really connect with my personality and who I am as a person. I've found varieties of techniques on putting the cardboard together. I've also learned about the different colors mean based off of all kinds of superhero personalities and bodies. |
Self Portrait
Through the process of doing my self portrait princess Jen I had used a rough and smooth texture and the same color palette as Eduard Vieth. For this project I had two inspirations one was The King's daughter by Eduard Vieth and the other inspiration was Mary of Jesus with the golden halo. Mary of Jesus has this inspiration of culture and religion. Eduard Vieth captures the beauty of a person's tone and what it's like in the person's life. Eduard Vieth has influenced my artwork by the texture with the dark and light colors. |
Choice Piece
My inspiration for this project was someone's post on tiktok of what was happening to our community around the world. I feel like I had a great connection to the choice I had made for this painting. There was a big family emergency that happened about a month ago, so this is for my family and for the first responders. This painting is to thank all first responders for their help throughout the past years of doing their job. The biggest takeaway from this project was learning how to paint something that I have never done before but something that is happening today. |
Negative part 2
In my second illustration piece shows fear, not heard, unwanted and overworked. Cinderella may look unpleasant but inside she is beautiful. My inspiration is by Daisy Fisher and Amina Cain. Throughout my life I can relate to Cinderella like my fears, not heard, mist trust and stuck but that never stopped me from my dreams. Cinderella is the perfect character because even though she didn't get to be herself in a way she still manages to find a way to do things that she believes in like going to the ball. |
Positive Part 1
Through the process of doing Beauty I had used different shading and tones to create something that looks like from a magazine. For this project I had used two magazine covers there both from different generations but they have some similarities. One of them is by Edward Steichen in 1933 and the second one is by Nino Munoz in 2018. What I have done with Beauty was to create and design a new piece of clothing. For both magazines their hands go up to their face so I had decided to put the hand in a way where it can come together to look alike. |
It Can Be...
For my project It Can Be... I have decided to create a quilt. My inspiration was the exhibit from the art museum and other quilts from other artists. I really didn't choose a specific artist because my piece wouldn't connect back, It's just the meaning behind this quilt. I wanted to create a more comfortable space where you get lost in thought just thinking how anyone could get inspired by just three letters and a different pattern. The meaning behind this piece is being able to show a comfortable side. |
The historic book of paintings
For this piece "The historic book of paintings" is based on my love for books. I've chosen to mess around with the textures and the look on the inside and outside of the book. For my inspiration I had to choose 15 images that looked interesting to me which were from Etsy. These 15 images had inspired me to create something that's from the 1800 to 1900s design. These photos had vintage stuff like old medical tools and even postamps. Throughout the year I'll be adding more paintings to this project to make it feel more like an art book. |
Lens based upon photography
While I was finding a way to get different techniques on my painting I've also found a different variety of colors that I was messing around with and thought those colors would be great for my painting. I tried to paint something that is unique, beautiful and speechless. In my painting speechless I focus on using Figural Expressionism to capture the feelings. The artist that influenced my painting was Frida Kahlo, her painting was speechless, unique and lonely. Frida Kahlo has influenced me as an artist to get different vibrant colors and detail. |
Home
For my last final project I have decided to create a self portrait. My inspiration was the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. I wanted to create something that reminds me of home before I move off to college. As my face is unknown but my body is bright and popping out means that I'm still trying to find who I am but slowly. The architecture in the background is one of the most common bridge in Wisconsin and my face is blurry because I'm still trying to find myself. In the piece Mona Lisa, Da Vinci does he also added a faded bring in the background so I had decided to connect that part into my piece. |
