Negative (Part 2):
Title: Lost
Size: 25.3cm x 38cm Medium: Color pencils and an lllustration bored Completion: November 2020 Exhibition text: In my second illustration piece shows fear, not heard, unwanted and overworked. Cinderella may look unpleasant but inside she is beautiful. My inspiration is by Daisy Fisher and Amina Cain. Throughout my life I can relate to Cinderella like my fears, not heard, mist trust and stuck but that never stopped me from my dreams. Cinderella is the perfect character because even though she didn't get to be herself in a way she still manages to find a way to do things that she believes in like going to the ball. |
Inspiration:
Daisy Fisher
Daisy Fisher
Daisy Fisher has created something that is real, that could happen in peoples day to day life. This picture isnt happy it almost feels like she might be feeling hopeless, unwanted, and stuck from her even stepsisters and step mother. The isperation behind Cinderella was a story teller for most humans, for mainly most Greeks and Europeans were involved with the story. Someone named Rhodpis has had one of the glass slipers, and went to go fly the slipper in to a egyptions kings hands. And thats when the egyption king went to go find the missing soe owner, but there is also a girl form china where she mad gowns and someday wanted to find the one someday like as a fairy teal and thats

Amina Cain took this photo around the time of 1933. This photo was based on a play, and as the maids role was to act like a maid realistically to get the point of view of how real maids were treated. The Two sisters situation gets darker wear there disgusted by each other. At a certain point there is a breaking point where they have been pushed down by an oppressive system. They are servants to the rich and they both portray in self-harm ways. But the owner was never there so the maids had to put themself back into place before she came back.

Planning:
Through my process of planning there was so much I had in mind. As you can see in the photo that there are three different sketches that I had plans for the background. Next to the sketches I had explained how each one has a meaning and which one I had thought would look best for my magazine theme illustration. Not only that but what was she going through at that moment like her emotions, what were her step-mother and step-sisters doing to her and how that could affect the background. I have said which one I had chosen and why, I have chosen the one where Cinderella was in the kitchen because that where it all takes place but a lot more emotion that comes into place. Its like Cinderella never gets dirty because everything is usually spotless when she cleans but when she cleans again the day after its still not dirty.

Experimentation:
For my experimentation I was messing around what to do for the different colors of the background, at first I was like let's use the original background from the movies but then I had changed my mind and wanted to do a modern wood thing. I've also didn't wanted to plagiarize, so I changed it up a little bit. For the mixtures, colors used and shadowing I was explaining why I take note of the and how it could be great use for the viewers knowledge. Through the process of mixing colors it was a tough decision what kind of wood color I would like to go with the theme of modern. I was very surpised at how great the colors were that I had chosen to complete my illustration project. For part two of this project I had to be very careful of my shadows because there are so many of them from Cinderella that if I use too much shadowing it could probably affect my illustration.

Process:
Throught the process of doing the part two was a struggle it took longer then expected but before I could do anthing I had to do my resesrch and plan out what I was going to draw for this project. It took about 5 hours to get the details and took about an hour to plan how I was going to do the wooden cabinets, colors I was using and how things should go. In these three photos you can see my process working my way up to completing this project and the techniques I had used.
Reflection:
For the second part of this project was my favorite out of part 1 and 2. The research went pretty easy, easier then part one but there was lots of planning to do. I have chosen the theme of Cinderella because that's one of the ways you can describe me, most of the time I was stuck in my room most of the time when I was younger because of family. I had thought that doing a cover of a Cinderella magazine cover would be very unique and inspirational to the viewers. Through the process I had used the new and the old colors that are from all the movies from Cinderella, it gives it a bit more unique texture and realistic view to the eye. Part 2 of my illustration was a lot more fun creating and if I had the chance of re-doing part two I would not.
Critique:
Similarities:
One of the most common similarities in both of these pictures was how you can tell that she feels trapped, unheard and other reasonings. There are light and dark colors to capture the meaning of Cinderella. Cinderella is like in her own world when she is cleaning and out of her room. In the kitchen it has the same modern details on the wood for the cabinets which gives it an a illusion. |
Differences:
With my illustration part 2 I had used this authentic and modern for the cabinets. The background color is more brown instead of different tones of blues, My illustration Cinderella is not smiling because of how down she is. I had made her hair longer and added a few streaks of brown. In my illustration it looks like she is getting dirty.
With the cartoon Cinderella there is a more unique difference of blues and greens that clash together to get like a admorel color. Cinderella looks like she is clean and not dirty, everything in Cinderella's house is so clean she keeps on cleaning it.

Act Responses
1. Clearly explain and discribe how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inpiration and its effect upon your artwork? Its pretty easy because the relations to both of my inspirationsare part of mt illustration project, there were some similarities and differences in my art work.
2. What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your Inspiration? The topic of my illustration is based on how people arent really listening to their kids, and how we can feel trapped in our bodys. This illustration is supposed to prove something but I believe I had proved something more. 3. What kind of generalizations and conclussions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. While you researched your insparation? What I had discovered about Cinderella is that there are so many mixed stories into one but Cinderella is not what it seems. If you have gotten to know the real story then you probably know what I am talking about. 4. What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research? The central idea was based on abuse, and trapped. 5. What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading yout reacherched? I had learned the reasoning behind Cinderella and the culture. There is evidence that a guy had found a real glass slipper and the owner was a chinese woman that wanted to find true love. |
